HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY

Although this does not fall in my blog's main focus, it is important to remember this tragic day. Today, January 27, is Holocaust Remembrance Day. This day is special and should be recognized, as it commemorates that tragic period in history, the Holocaust. This day recognizes and shows respect to the millions of people who were murdered, abused, and tortured. We as a nation must remember to never let this happen again and to stand up in the face of evil. 

"The Light of Remembrance is a new award established and awarded by the director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum for outstanding contribution to the education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust. It is a tribute to those involved in maintaining and transferring the memory of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz" (“Light of Remembrance” / Education / Auschwitz-Birkenau, n.d.).
